MEET YOUR COACH

HEY I’M JADE

When I was younger I played a few different sports, including vaulting, inline hockey (goalkeeper for the Australian Women’s Team) and ice hockey (goalkeeper for the QLD Women’s Team). When we were asked in Grade 12 to choose a career, I decided ‘coach’ - inspired by these coaches I had, who had made such a positive impact on my life. I went home to tell my parents, and they told me that wasn’t a ‘good enough’ choice, so I went on to study physiotherapy instead.

In 2012, I stepped on stage for the first time. The fire inside of me had been lit and I continued competing multiple times a year, winning my IFBB Bikini Pro card in 2015. Unfortunately, with competing came my first experience with disordered eating. This included bingeing, stockpiling food, the dreaded post-show rebound, and massive anxiety around food.

In July 2015, as I started prep for my first competition as a Professional Bodybuilder I had an accident in the gym, which resulted in 3 fractures in my thoracic spine. I dealt with chronic pain for years following this, as I worked to rebuild the strength in my back, and this took a huge toll on my mental health. I get how hard it is when you feel stuck, like you will never be able to make progress again. This whole experience reinforced to me that exercise was invaluable not only to reduce pain, but also to improve your mental health. My beautiful daughter was born in 2016 and the following year I was itching to get back on stage, so I started prep once again for my first Pro Show. I went on to compete in 6 Pro Shows, totalling 22 competitions over 10 years.

Health and fitness have always been so important to me. The more I learnt about nutrition and how to incorporate it flexibly and sustainably into my lifestyle, the more my passion for it grew. I wanted to share everything I learned with my clients, to help other women feel confident, strong and in control of their health - so they can enjoy a balanced, sustainable lifestyle too.

At The Fit and Fuelled Collective, we understand you want to become the best version of yourself.     I first approached Jade when I realised that no matter how much I workout I would never lose weight until I got help with the nutrition side. Fad diets have worked for me in the past but figuring out how to maintain the weightloss has always been a mystery to me. After following Jade's awesome progress over the last few years, I quickly realised that she knows her stuff. I contacted her in October and for the last 3 months I've dropped 4 kgs by increasing what I eat. Haven't felt like I am dieting at all.     I started with Jade at the beginning of the year. I'd just finished cancer treatment and I'd put on a lot of weight and I'd lost my fitness. I was looking at starting with a trainer when I saw Jades post come up and it was like it was meant to be. I'd been following her IFBB career for a long time. She was someone I admired and to be trained by her was a real privilege. I lost that chemo weight I'd put on and I have been getting stronger. As a nutrition health coach, I know about correct nutrition. It was so interesting learning correct nutrition when training with weights. She put me on a reverse diet to get my calories up and we couldn't believe how the weight dropped off me. My body worked better with more food, not less.
